Annually, the Fulton County Youth Commission
strives to improve the lives of those around
them. Each year the organization hosts a locally
televised youth forum that gives teens the
chance to discuss major concerns and problems in
their communities such as teen homelessness,
teen dating, and music and the media. In 2003,
the Youth Commission teamed up with the Homeless
Youth Crisis Network to produce “Keeping It
Real-Surviving Life on the Streets,” a locally
televised video warning teenagers of the issues
and dangers homeless teenagers face.
Each
year, The Fulton County Youth Commission also
addresses the Fulton County Board of
Commissioners to report youth-related issues
Fulton County youths are concerned about, as
well as the action steps the Youth Commission
plans to ensue to resolve those issues. Because
of its role as community service and information
provider, the Youth Commission also collaborates
with other Fulton County departments and
divisions, as well as community organizations to
maintain powerful partnerships that will benefit
everyone.
By
remaining steadfast to the belief that nothing
ventured is nothing gained, Fulton County Youth
Commissioners are involved leaders, efficient
problem solvers, and dynamic community advocates
for children, youth, and family rights. It is
this dedication that makes the Fulton County
Youth Commission a wonderful place for youths to
be a part of solutions to the problems that
continue to plague this generation.
