Reasonable
Accommodations: Title I of the Americans
with Disabilities Act (ADA) mandates that employers with
over fifteen (15) employees provide reasonable
accommodations to any employee who becomes disabled. If
determined eligible under the ADA, this process involves
determining the feasibility of accommodating the
employee in his/her current position, or if this is not
possible, reviewing county-wide position vacancies in an
effort to identify a position for which the employee is
qualified to perform the essential job functions
(reassignment), with or without reasonable
accommodations.
Technical Assistance:
Provides
assessment, review and direct technical assistance in
the design, construction and renovation of County owned
and operated buildings and facilities. In addition,
technical assistance is provided to citizens, the
private sector and local municipalities within Fulton
County. Technical Assistance is based on the ADA
Accessibility Guidelines (ADAAG) and the Georgia
Accessibility Code (GAC).
Sign Language Interpreting Services: Fulton
County has made a commitment to uphold the federal law
governing Americans with Disabilities by providing
qualified sign language interpreters for meetings and
events throughout the county. This service insures
effective communications for those living with hearing
and speech disabilities. Interpreting services are
provided through a contract with an outside provider.
